CULTURREG – Develop Cultural Tourism is a project witch is part of the Program for European Initiative INTERREG III B 2000 – 2006, Azores – Madeira – Canárias, this project was developed during four different stages, between October 2006 and May 2008.
It upholds and supports the development of cultural tourism in Macaronésia (Atlantic Islands), contributing to a closer cooperation among different cities in the region, and an overall improvement of these destinations.
Objectives
It’s targeted to the cities visitors promoting the cultural heritage, creating and improving new products and various points of interest, but also to the local resident with the underlying intention of alerting people’s conscience to the importance of all cultural heritages and being able to appreciate them. Promoting culture in a way that is congruent and paced with the local social and economic life is a major asset for tourism, simultaneously providing the visitor with an enjoyable alternative. In addition to creating a new product, CULTURAL TOURISM, we will be sustaining a different but crucial element of the market.
